Yeung has recently retired as Chief Advisor, Technology and Petroleum Engineering at Brion Energy where he directed efforts to bring in best industry practices and new technology to the company. Before he joined Brion in May 2012, he had been with Husky Energy for 4 years as Manager of Oil Sands Technology after spending close to 30 years at Suncor Energy. His over 39 years experience in the heavy oil industry has been primarily in the area of reservoir development and R&D. He initiated Suncor’s first SAGD project at Burnt Lake and was involved in the development of Suncor’s Firebag Commercial SAGD Project. He also provided technical guidance on Husky’s Tucker SAGD Project and Sunrise Project K.C. was a Distinguished Lecturer in the 2003-2004 Distinguished Lecturers Program of the Petroleum Society of CIM. For the past few years, He has been giving lectures and short courses on Heavy Oil Recovery Methods in Canada, China, Europe, Middle East, South America and U.S. to promote Canada’s heavy oil technology and to share his knowledge and experience with the industry. K.C. holds B.Sc.(with Distinction) and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Hawaii. He was a past President of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association (2005/2006), past Chairman of the Petroleum Society of CIM (2007) and past Director of SPE Canada (2011-2013). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Foundation CMG and on several committees for SPE Canada and the CHOA. He has also been the Technical Conference Chairman for the World Heavy Oil Congress (WHOC) since its inception in 2006, in Beijing, Edmonton, Margarita Island (Venezuela), Aberdeen (UK) and New Orleans (US).

If you say yes to any of the questions above, we are inviting you to a series of Special Events. Mapua Alumni Association Alberta Chapter (MAAAC) is rolling out its flagship program for Alberta - the Professional Development Program. This FREE program is aimed to present the Oil and Gas Industry on different Discipline level for future Careers in the Industry. All sessions are held at Ethno-Cultural Council of Calgary (ECCC), 915 33rd St NE, Calgary AB. Last April 6, 2013, we started the first PDP session and has been well attended. We extended the invite to the Center of Newcomers and in the end, we had a mix of curious attendees, to the serious ones who are considering a career in Oil & Gas to the Newcomers curious on how to upgrade their skill sets to be considered in the prevailing Industry in Alberta.
